Often referred to as the first Impressionist, Pissarro rewrote the rules of painting by documenting everyday life around him, from landscapes to cityscapes to the people that inhabited these spaces.
From mid-October 2025 to February 2026, the Denver Art Museum will host the first American retrospective in 40 years of Camille Pissarro. Join Active Minds as we follow Pissarro from his upbringing in St. Thomas to the bustling artistic city that was 19th century Paris, and examine works that helped change the art of painting forever.
