Get an up-close look at one of Colorado's most iconic animals with a ranger from Douglas County Open Space & Natural Resources.

This interactive presentation explores the fascinating world of elk, from their history in Colorado to their behavior during the dramatic fall rutting season.

Participants will have the chance to examine real antler sheds, pelts, skulls, and even ivory teeth from the time when bulls had tusks. Learn how and why elk bugle, what to watch for during the rut, and where you might encounter these incredible animals on local Open Space properties. Perfect for wildlife enthusiasts, families, and anyone curious about Colorado’s natural heritage.
