An Essential Guide for Beginners with Jeslyn Sebold

These classes are for adults and teens. Bring your stories to life in this comprehensive, five-part series with instructor Jeslyn Sebold.

Perfect for beginners, this class walks you through the full comic-making process - from developing your idea to creating a finished, full-color page.

Participants will explore storytelling, character creation, panel layout, lettering, inking, and color techniques while building their own original comic step by step. Each session builds on the last, offering a supportive, hands-on environment to grow your skills and confidence as a comic creator.

Class Breakdown:

Week 1 - September 12th: Where to Begin?

• Develop your story through brainstorming and script writing

Week 2 - September 19th: Draw It Out

• Learn paneling and create thumbnails to map your comic

Week 3 - September 26th: Let's Talk Text

• Explore lettering, word bubbles, and visual storytelling

Week 4 - October 3rd: Inking

• Practice inking techniques to bring your artwork to life

Week 5 - October 10th: All About Color

• Use color to enhance mood, setting, and cohesion

Cost: $40 per person. This fee covers all five classes in the series, and participants are expected to attend all five consecutive sessions. A minimum of 10 participants is required for the series to run.
